Midori Ataka is Director of Music at St. Peter’s where she serves as organist and director of the St. Peters Adult choir. She was born in Kobe, Japan, and moved to the United States at the age of 20. Midori received a Graduate Performance Diploma and Master of Music in organ from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where she will begin her doctoral studies in August of 2022. A classically trained organist, Midori has performed both as a soloist and collaborative artist at local churches including Zion Lutheran Church, St. Ignatius Catholic Church, St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, and Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation. In November 2021, she performed Lou Harrison’s Organ Concerto with Peabody Percussion Orchestra. Ataka currently serves as Conservatory Accompanist at Peabody for student lessons, classes, juries, and recitals. She also serves on the board of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
